There is a great need for youth in South Africa and on the African continent to be exposed to sustainable development knowledge that would enable them to safeguard public health, protect natural resources, support energy conservation efforts, and engage in the movement towards a more just and sustainable future. The Youth Bridge Trust (YBT) is responding to this need with its Green Careers Development Programme, aimed at building a skilled workforce ready to meet the demands of a low-carbon economy in South Africa and beyond.
WRC Manzipreneur case study report
This publication is a case study of the Manzipreneur Ideation Incubator Programme, offered by the organisation Youth Bridge Trust (YBT) to support unemployed youth to transition from academia to entrepreneurial careers in the water sector. The initiative was funded by the Water Research Commission (WRC) under the Water Graduate Employment Programme (GEP) Phase II that falls under the Presidential Employment Stimulus (PES). It is a partnership between WRC and the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) to build future capacity for the water sector. The overarching objective of the programme is to catalyse job creation and water sector exposure in support of sustainable economic development.
